The Museo de la Ciudad ‘Coronel Manuel Gutierrez Zamora’ inaugurated in 1970, is located inside a neoclassical house. In the museum’s permanent exhibition rooms, visitor can take in the historical development of the city of Veracruz since the early 16th century to the mid-20th century, through its photographs, objects, documents, collections, models and furniture. This museum also has several archaeological pieces belonging to the Olmec and Totonaca cultures, found on Sacrificio Island. Its other areas contain two temporary exhibition rooms, an auditorium, a multipurpose room and a cafeteria.
