The C-07 Gunboat Guanajuato
The C-07 Gunboat, Guanajuato, is a warship eighty meters in length and twelve meters wide built in Spain and discharged from the Mexican Navy in 1934. After being decommissioned in 2001 it is today an Interactive Naval Museum located at the wharf on Avenida de Las Banderas, downtown in the City of Boca del Rio.
The tour begins on deck with a welcome from the C-07 Gunboat crew. Led by retired officers of the Mexican Navy, the visitor enters the 16 areas of the old boat:
Weapons Room, The Bridge, Telecommunications Room, Library and Naval Decorations, Naval Cinema, the War Room virtually fitted with an Xbox 360 for gamers, Naval Hospital, Naval and Marine Workshops – an interactive room for school groups to discuss such topics as Civic Education, History, Naval Activities and Ecological Awareness, among others.
There is a Machine Room, Crew’s Cabins, the Commander’s Cabin, the Dining Room for the officials and technicians, the Crew’s Bathroom, Infirmary, and Dentistry Room.
Services: A Gift Shop and, at the stern, is the Café and Bar "The Deck."
Hours and Admission: Open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00a.m. to 5:30p.m. During peak season or special dates the museum is open every day. Admission Adult: $46.00, Children under 10: $29.00 and $17.00 for people with INSEN credentials (nationals). Special rates for groups.
