Temple and College of the Company of Jesus
This Church was the headquarters of the Company of Jesus, it was buils by the Jesuits, who arrived in 1574 in Michoacan to educate the indigenous people in the Catholic faith.
The building dates from the sixteenth century and features a clock tower, which legend has it was exiled from Spain since it marked the death of a member of royalty, others say it was a gift from King Felipe II.
This building’s large courtyard and quiet hallways are currently home to the House of Culture.
