Three kilometers north of the center of the city of Pátzcuaro we find El Cerro del Estribo, or Stirrup Hill, a natural lookout from where you have a great view of Lake Patzcuaro and its islands surrounded by green fields.
Here stands the Chapel of Calvary, which, presumably, was built on the remains of a yácata, a name given to the pyramids of a circular base common in the region that housed the tomb of King Tariácuri.
At this site, every year there is the famous Procession of Silence during Easter week.
