The former State Capital Building was remodeled and opened on March 21, 2008 as the Museo del Palacio de Oaxaca. In joint collaboration with UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico), the Museo del Palacio Universum is a place that gives life to culture, science, art and entertainment. In its various permanent and traveling exhibits, you can learn about the history of man, the universe, technological advances, Mexican history and more. One of its most important exhibition rooms is that which chronicles the life of native Oaxacan Don Benito Juárez García ,"Distinguished One of the Americas”.
Aside from offering expositions that invite you to learn, this museum stands out as a wonder of beauty for its architectural style visible both inside and outside the building.
The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 to 7:00 and Sundays from 9:30 to 5:00.
