The Oaxaca Museum of Stamp Collecting (MUFI)
The Oaxaca Museum of Stamp Collecting (MUFI)
Philately is defined as the hobby of collecting all types of stamps, envelopes, and postcards from different periods and places in the world. Over time, this became a popular hobby, art or science well within the reach of all people. For this reason, on July 9, 1998 the Museo de Filatelia de Oaxaca was inaugurated, which for its purpose of cultural diffusion, offers temporary and permanent exhibits set within two typical Oaxacan houses of plain and contemporary architecture. The Philatelic Vault offers the most extensive permanent collection, with pieces primarily from Mexico that are arranged chronologically.
There is also the José Lorenzo Cossío y Cosio Library, a large and small hall for special exhibits, the hall of postal art, The Historic Organ Institute of Oaxaca, a multipurpose room and the Philatelic Club.
The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 8:00. Admission is free.
