The Juarez and 20 de Noviembre Markets
The Juarez and 20 de Noviembre Markets
These colorful supply centers in the Historic Center of Oaxaca are undoubtedly two of the most popular places in town. These markets date back from the colonial era, yet have been remodeled and updated for our modern world. They are one block from the Zocalo, or main square, separated from one another only by the small distance of a street. They open very early and close late into the afternoon. Most of the products offered are aimed at tourists, but the truth is that you can find almost everything. What do you want to buy? Fruits, vegetables, meat, groceries, seeds, dried chiles, textiles, regional sweets, black pottery, Alebrijes, leather ... There is even a food court where you can sample traditional dishes from around the region.
Anything and everything is available at the Mercado Juarez and the Mercado 20 de Noviembre in Oaxaca, where the rich colors and classic flavors of the region are abundant!
