Fuente de las Tarascas (Fountain)
Fuente de las Tarascas (Fountain)
One of the most characteristic places of Morelia is a great rounded fountain located between the Aqueduct and the Calle Real. It is formed by three purepechas women or tarascas with naked back carring a big tray full of typical fruit of Michoacan.
This fountain was changed and replaced by another representing a chancla (guarache). The locals not forgot the Tarascas and the government replaced it over a decade later.
