Since 1967, this Baroque building is the headquarters of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences at the University  of Michoacan de San Nicolas de Hidalgo.  It was erected in the eighteenth century to house the convent of the Dieguinos. In 1861 the state governor, Epitacio Huerta ordered to establish the Civil Hospital and in 1895 became a boarding school for girls.
During the Mexican Revolution was closed, becoming used as Military Hospital in 1925.
