Parish of the Third Order
The Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows is the oldest religious building in the city, as seen in an inscription that appears on the arch of the choir indicating it was closed in 1755. A building consisting of three naves, the altar is dedicated to the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, while its side altars are dedicated to Our Lord Jesus, St. John the Evangelist, the Virgin of the Refuge, Our Lady of Sorrows, Jesus on the Cross, Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Anthony of Padua, Saint Joseph and Saint Judas Tadeo.
The Temple of the Third Order was visited during the War of Independence by General Félix María Calleja del Rey, who placed his baton as an act of devotion before the image of La Purisima.
