Chichen Itza owes its fame to two things: Firstly, because is considered to be the most important archeological center in the Yucatan Peninsula. In its days of glory, Chichen Itza became the strongest Mayan city and therefore, the most interesting findings have been revealed there. And secondly, in this site as well as in Dzibilchaltun, you can see a surprising solar phenomenon at the spring and autumn equinoxes, with the difference being that in Chichen Itza people meet in the afternoon to witness the descent of the God Kukulcan, that is reflected as the sun crosses over the steps of the Kukulcan Pyramid.
Admission $ 57 pesos. Important: CULTUR State Government charged additional $177 pesos per person to foreigners. The sound and light show is an additional cost $72 pesos.

Open 365 days a year: 8:00 to 17:00 hrs. The light and sound spectacle begins at 20:00 hrs.
