In the town center of the city lies the Main Plaza better known as "Plaza de Armas" or "Plaza Patria" The name is because at the time of the viceroyalty the realistic Army conducted military demonstrations in the morning. Its elements are distributed to the Spanish-style; they build around the house of the nobles and the Main Church. At present you can find to the south side the Government Palace and the Municipal Palace, to the north the Legislative Palace and the Old Imperial Hotel, to the east side the old building that was the France Hotel and to the west Cathedral-Basilica dedicated to the Virgin of la Asuncion. In the center of the plaza stands up a flag to which every day the Mexican Army pays honors in the afternoon.
