The Inhabitants from the Lagos region arrived to this arid land suffering poverty, epidemics and constant attacks by Chichimecas groups but thier strength and enthusiasm helped them to form the  "Villa de Aguas Calientes." The esplanade was built in tribute to them and was inaugurated by the Municipal President  Luis Armando Reynoso Femat as part of the maintenance and improvement of the Historical Center in December 2001.
