Information
This magnificent church located in the heart of the city began its construction in 1856 under the orders of the Bishop Pedro Loza y Pardavé. Its construction was halted a year later, it returned in 1875 and was completed in 1899.
The patron of the parish is the Purisima Concepcion and won the title of Catedral Basilica in 1937.
Its facade is Gothic influence and has three naves with their respective altars, following the Baroque style.
It also stands out its candiles and its beautiful atrium where two Cristo Rey and a statue of Juan Diego welcome to visitors. But the piece that stands out in the cathedral is the Parisian organ manufactured by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, the best organ builder of the nineteenth century.
