The Diego Rivera House and Museum
The Museo Casa Diego Rivera was founded in 1975 in the house where the famous Mexican painter was born.
Born Diego Maria de la Concepcion Juan Nepomuceno Estanislao de la Rivera y Barrientos Acosta y Rodriguez, this illustrious Mexican painter, muralist, and active communist was famous for giving expression to works of high social content in public buildings around the country.
The museum consists of a collection from Marte R. Gomez, among others, which displays almost 100 original works of the master Diego Rivera. The collection is one of the most important in the country.
Different creative stages of the artist are displayed such as his formative years and his cubist period.
Portraits, landscapes, nudes, allegories, still life paintings and mural sketches are some of the pieces in the house.
The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 to 7:00 and Sundays from 10:00 to 3:00.
