Information

Facing the Plaza de San Francisco, a few steps from Teatro Juarez in the Historic Center of Guanajuato there is a majestic building made of quarried pink stone: the Church and Ex-Convent of San Francisco.

The Iglesia San Francisco around the year 1928 originally functioned as a hospice.

It was founded next to the Templo de San Juan Bautista which later would become part of the Convent of San Francisco. This church and convent were built by Franciscan friars in the 18th century.

Note that at one side of the church is the Chapel of Our Lady of Loreto, and a few steps away, the Quixote Iconographic Museum.
