This esplanade is a famous corner for the reason that No.4 of the street, was the birthplace of the famous Mexican idol Jorge Negrete. He was born at this residence on November 30, 1911.
In 2005, a life size bronze statue of the icon was unveiled, remembering with pride the Charro Cantor.
The statue is the work of local Guanajuatense Raul Jaramillo, and was dedicated by Governor Juan Carlos Romero Hicks. r09
