The statue of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra is located in the Plaza de San Fernando, just in front of the church of the same name, in the heart of the city of Guanajuato.
Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra is considered to be the greatest figure of Spanish literature, and is known worldwide for writing The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha, a work of great relevance for modern literature.
Guanajuato named the Cervantino International Festival in his honor and respectfully remembers him with this monument.
