Located 2 kilometers (1 mi) from Comala, and 25 kilometers (16 mi) from Colima, is the main house of the former Nogueras Hacienda where the native Colima artist Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo lived. Its more than one hectare of land is home to the University Center of Environmental Management, the National Training Center for Artistic Design, the Center for Anthropological Studies of the West, the Unity Lúdica Margarita Septien and a botanical garden. The Centro Cultural Nogueras is a beautiful natural area where one can enjoy and learn from herbalists with detailed explanations on the common uses of different plants, or the creation of compost, a method of natural fertilizer that converts earth into a high quality product. Here you can see also turtles, butterflies and different kinds of trees and crops, all very educational and very interesting. This center is a great outing for families.
