Suchitlan River Canyon
Suchitlan River Canyon
Every visitor who goes to the small town of Suchitlan will get to know this beautiful natural landscape that offers the most charming scenes, for only the price of a short trip. The locals call it the Barranca del Rio Suchitlan, and although there are no signs indicating the way there, is very easy to find by asking anyone along the way for directions. Everyone knows the place. The path that goes down the mountain side is about 150 meters long (492 ft) and is perfectly paved. Yes, it is steep and the return back can be tiresome, but it is well worth the effort. At the bottom of the ravine, the atmosphere is cool and secluded. A well-reinforced suspension bridge invites you to cross to the other side, crossing the crystalline river that runs through huge plants and rocks. Once across the bridge, the stone path continues to climb up to an extensive view of the whole area. When it is not the rainy season, the river flows smoothly, and those that are more adventurous will enjoy removing their shoes, soaking their feet, and wading around in the water. Remember to bring a camera to capture this unforgettable place.
