Built between 1802 and 1807, the Temple of Carmen in Celaya, is a unique construction that surprises the visitor by its beauty and the cleverness of its proportions. On the outside it has a tower of two bodies coming out of the entrance of the church which also highlights the beautiful portal side sculpture niche and the Virgin Mary. The interior of the temple imposes its generosity of its dimensions. It has a Latin cross plan which beautifully handles the classical elements in its entablatures and altars. Considered as the masterpiece of the distinguished architect Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras, the Temple of Carmen is a must-see visit as an icon and historical reference of Mexican architecture.
