The Architecture of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church
The Templo de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, located in front of the Plaza de Armas square and the city hall, was began in 1918. Its facade is made of brick, with a central tower that was built in the 1950s, and finished off in 1965 with a concrete crown supported by eight angels. In the earthquake of October 9, 1995, the tower collapsed. The current crown is made of fiberglass and is said to be a replica of the one used by the Empress Carlota in 1860.
