In order to create the Bailarines de Vallarta sculpture, inaugurated during the winter of 2006 on the new extension of the boardwalk, sculptor Jim Demetro found his inspiration in the youthful energy, the subtle movements and the colorful costumes of the regional dancers of Xiutla.
