"Celebratory Art: this could be defined by the number of practicing Oaxacan painters who enrapture their audience with their ability to reiterate their festive vocation through painting after painting. Very close to the illustration of children’s books, but with a proclivity towards strong erotic scenes that are distant from false candor, the painters of imaginary landscapes intertwine and relate to their iconography, yet without confusing themself within it ... "
This is part of the quote that can be read at the entrance of the Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqueños, and it perfectly describes what this fine art means for those practice it with interest.
The museum is an institution with social-cultural character for the service of the dissemination of the wealth of visual works from artists from Oaxaca. The attractive exhibits available at the museum are the result of the effort, dedication and research, from both collectors and collaborators working with the museum as well as the artists themselves.
The space is filled with representations that burst with emotion. There are all kinds of paintings from ones that celebrate the popular tradition, filled with colors and themes , to even the most subtle textures and designs, no less explicit. Vinyls, textiles and other techniques are also present at this museum, where every detail allows us to distinguish the evident difference of one painter to another. This is a real tribute to the great artists of this rich Mexican state.
