Founded in 1982, the Museo Nacional de Culturas Populares offers various exhibitions and activities around popular culture, which reflect the creativity of the Mexican people from both urban and rural areas. The museum exhibits are always temporary, allowing for continual renewal of fresh and relevant exhibitions. It is worth pausing to admire the 500 Year Tree, a sculpted piece in clay with an exceptional size of nearly 16 feet, which shows images of national heroes like Cuauhtemoc and Miguel Hidalgo, plants native to the continent, and of course the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl Volcanos, eternal guardians of Mexican history.  The museum is open Tuesday to Thursday from 10:00 to 6:00, and Friday to Sunday from 10:00 to 8:00. General Admission is $ 11.00 pesos. Admission is free on Sundays.
