The village of Avandaro is located on the shores of Lake Valle de Bravo, 5 kilometers from the town and county seat. It is best known for its many weekend private residences, in addition to having a renowned hotel and spa that offers lodging, a restaurant, sports facilities, and a golf course.
Avándaro houses one of the most beautiful forest reserves in the region. Within this reserve you can see the Bridal Veil Falls which has camping areas, grills, craft vendors, and a horseback riding service.
Every Monday, in the main square in the subdivision, there is a small street market, known for the sale of flowers, candy, crafts, and regional food.
There are also cabins and small inns that offer lodging with or without chimneys, as this area is particularly cold in the autumn and winter.
It is very common on the weekends to see numerous dirt bike enthusiasts because Avándaro boasts one of the most exciting routes for the practice of this sport.
