The Tuxtla Gutierrez Teatro de la Ciudad is a modern place, in the heart of the city.
It opened on November 20, 1982 with the play “The Crows are in Mourning” by Hugo Argüelles. This theater has galleries for temporary exhibitions and film screenings, in addition to being an important forum for the arts in Chiapas.
It was designed under the direction of architect Abraham Zabludovsky and has the capacity for 1,186 people.
