San Francisco Church
San Francisco Church
The impressive Iglesia de San Francisco is located in the central part of the Jardin Guerrero, right in the heart of the City of San Luis Potosi. The construction of the temple and monastery began in 1591, and both were remodeled in the 18th century. The temple facade is made of stone and the style is baroque. In the central niche, you can see a sculpture of St. Francis of Assisi, and inside there are several religious paintings and sculptures, the works of Miguel Cabrera and Antonio Torres, as well as an impressive Baroque pipe organ that was built in the late 18th century. One of the most important areas inside the church is the sacristy. Built in the 18th century, the church is one of the most valuable of the city, both for its architecture, as well as for the paintings, sculptures and furnishings that it contains. Today, it is considered the most remarkable church of the city.
