The Architecture of El Carmen Church
The Architecture of El Carmen Church
The Iglesia del Carmen of San Luis Potosi is a magnificent monument, and one of the most representative Baroque Churrigueresque churches in Mexico.
The first stone was laid in 1749, and the church was dedicated in 1764. The carved work on its facade and front Josephine entryway is notable, which is located on the north side. On one side of the church is the Museum of the Viceroyalty (Museo del Virreinato), which exhibits paintings, sculptures and period furniture.
