San Nicolas Church
San Nicolas Church
Located at the rear of the Catedral de San Cristobal de Las Casas, the Iglesia de San Nicolas is currently used as a Diocesan Museum.
Its construction recalls of the Mudejar style, a single hall with coffered ceiling covered by a pyramidal roof built in wood and tile. It is the only church in the city that retains its original form.
Classified within the stylistic church category of "indigenous village", its brick, stone, and multicolored facade is simple and serves as a hallmark of traditional San Cristobal architecture.
To visit the museum it is advisable to request permission in advance.
Celebration: December 6.
