Mexico is famous for its beaches and especially the turquoise waters offered by the state of Quintana Roo. In a humid, tropical climate, ideal for vacations, the Caribbean waters are the main charm of Playa del Carmen. The bright colors that can be seen on sunny days permit clear visibility of the sea floor, perfect for snorkeling or diving along the Mayan Reef.  This reef is world famous for being the second largest in the world, with marine life and coral limestone formations that go along for more than 300 km (186 mi) of the Mexican coast.
