The construction of this cathedral  started in 1861 and was ended in 1865 by the Bishop Juan Escalante y Moreno. It is located on the Revolucion de 1910 street in front of the Jardin Velazco and was afforded by the  parishioners with the enthusiastic participation of the priest Mariano Carlon.

The church with pitched roof remained this way until 1910. In its interior of the cathedral is the tabernacle which is the replica to scale of the dome of the San Pedro Cathedral  in Rome.
