All of Quintana Roo displays majestic natural landscapes. It is covered with forestal areas that contain ceiba, red and black cedar, chechen, mahogany, sapodilla and palm trees.
The Caribbean coasts have a great variety and richness of fauna and flora. And just around the island of Cozumel are wonderful reefs that are home to over 500 species of fish, as well as lobsters, snails, turtles, sponges, sea urchins, seaweed and starfish.
Also in the coastal area are wetlands, savannas, dunes and mangroves, where several species of seabirds gather such as gulls, pelicans and frigates.
