For more than 100 years, the Carnival of Mazatlan, the third largest worldwide is one of the most anticipated events in the city.

For almost a week, the streets dress up to the sound of the drums that accompany the spectacle of floats and costumes. Bands, guest artists and nearly one million enthusiastic spectators gather along the 11 km stretch of the boardwalk, or Malecon, starting the fun, while the carpet is a path of streamers and confetti.

Every year the Carnival of Mazatlan presents cultural activities, performances ​​and the inescapable coronations of the Kings of the Carnival: Mazatlán Prize for Literature, Antonio Lopez Saenz State Prize for Painting, Coronation of the King of Joy, Coronation of Floral Games, Isaura Clemencia Award for Poetry, Coronation of the Queen of Carnival and Queen Child, Naval Battle and Burning of Bad Humor.
