On the ground floor of the old customs building is the Museo Tampico 1829. It is a space dedicated to the history of the city, but mainly to the historic battle that marked the culmination of the movement for independence of Mexico, when Brigadier General Isidro Barradas tried to regain the territory and was defeated on September 11, 1829.
