Guaymas is located on the edge of the Sea of Cortez to the southwest of the state of Sonora and is considered one of the most important ports of the Mexican Pacific. This territory was inhabited by the tribes of Guaymas, Yaquis and Seris.

Framed by the Sonoran Desert and the vast Pacific Ocean, Guaymas is ideal for various water sports such as diving, snorkeling, fishing, boating, yachting, kayaking, and kiteboarding, as well as land-based activities such as horseback riding on the beach, riding ATVs in the dunes of San Carlos, and ecological tours and activities.
It is worth mentioning that the hunting tourism is booming in Guaymas due to the several hunting ranches near the city that offer the chance to practice hunting responsibly.
Guaymas has a first class tourist infrastructure including its hotels and restaurants, marinas, and golf course, concentrated mainly in resorts located in the Bays of San Carlos and Bacochibampo and where you will find hotels, restaurants, bars, craft markets, condominiums, convention centers, bars and nightclubs.
Other attractions of the city are the Sonora Dolphinarium and Cerro Tetakawi considered by the Yaqui Indians as an important ceremonial center.

Guaymas is bordered on the south with Hermosillo, Ciudad Obregon to the north, and to east by the Pacific Ocean.
This destination has the José María Yáñez International Airport as a gateway for visitors from around the country and in some U.S. cities.
Carretera Federal 15D is the highway that goes to Guaymas.
