Information
In 1897, under the command of Archbishop Pedro Loza y Pardave is placed the first stone of the Expiatory Temple.
Following the design of the Italian architect Adamo Boari, the construction keeps the same style of that time, resembling to many churches of that European country.
During the Revolution and the subsequent Cristero War the work must stop and after some more architects and several decades, this beautiful temple is completed in 1972 under the orders of the architect Ignacio Diaz Morales.
Its Neo-Gothic facade stands out with three porticos made in quarry that ends in a pinnacle each one. In its interior there are three naves with columns and a French stained glass window.
