The Town of Tecpatán is located 58 miles from the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, on the highway that leads toward the Chicoasen Dam.

This quiet town of about 38 thousand inhabitants, has the Ex-Convento de Tecpatán, a church that was built by the Dominican Order in the second half of the 16th century, and the eighth church that was built in the province of San Vicente de Chiapa and Guatemala.

It is a solid Baroque style building composed of a cloister. On the inside, where there is no longer a  roof, you can see the remains of the presbytery, a large niche in the sacristy, and a magnificent dome in the shape of a shell.

The Convent can be visited daily  from 9:00 to 7:00.
