Built by the Jesuits about the year 1700, the Capilla de Loreto is located in front of the Plaza de Fundadores, and has a beautiful facade. This is one of the best examples of Solomonic Baroque, which is characterized by spiral-shaped columns. A stone image of Our Lady of Loreto is found in the main niche. The entryway is made from quarry and it is splendidly decorated with plant motifs. The inside houses a Baroque altarpiece. It is worth mentioning that this was the best chapel of its kind, of which the Jesuits had in New Spain.
