Also known as Vicente Espinoza park, the Zocalo, or the main square, the Plaza 31 de Marzo is the meeting place for San Cristobal’s locals and tourists.

At the top of its two-story kiosk the music of a marimba lights up the nights for locals and visitors alike, who enjoy the Chiapanecan music comfortably seated on their wrought-iron benches under the shade of lush trees.

This is the starting point for tourists who are boarding or getting off of their buses, to begin their walking tour of the city. Surrounding the plaza you will find the Cathedral, San Nicolas temple, City Hall, Casa Mazariegos and Los Portales.
