Best known as the Casa de los ‘Muñecos’ or ‘Dolls’, the Museo Universitario of the City of Puebla, is a sampling of 18th century art, and is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Puebla. It is so named because of the building’s exterior facade that is decorated by 16 panels with Talavera that include semi-naked figures that appear to be like dolls. The building is a typical Pueblan property with three levels. From the outside, it gives the impression of being a single house, but once inside it can been seen that there are actually two parcels. The Casa de Los Muñecos was acquired by the Autonomous University of Puebla in 1984, and thanks to the restoration that followed, the building was renewed to its former glory. Today, it offers various art exhibits including: graphic art, drawings, plaster reliefs, scientific instruments and antique furniture in addition to the popular temporary shows and conferences.
