Torreon is a young and dynamic city that celebrated its centenary in 2007. Located in the south western part of the State of Coahuila and the semi-desert of Mexico, it is bordered to the north and east by the municipality of Matamoros, on the south and west by the state of Durango.

It is located 260 km from Saltillo, the capital of the state. Its remarkable economic development is sustained by the agricultural industry characterized by growing cotton, wheat, beans, cantaloupe and watermelon; by the textile industry in the region Comarca Lagunera, by the dairy, metallurgy and chemistry, and trade and services such as tourism. Torreon ranks first national in a variety of number of food franchises.

Torreon has a brewery, 23 universities and 23 technical schools with more than 116 specialties as well as 7 research and development centers.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Plaza de Armas, the Juarez Market and Alliance Market, the Historical Museum of the City of Casa de Cerro (Hill House), the Museum of the Revolution, the Pearl Channel, and the Museum of Paleontology.

The Christ of the Noas is without a doubt the busiest attraction in the city. The Sculptor was Vladimir Alvarado. This architectural monument is located on the esplanade of the Cerro de las Noas. Weighing 580 tons and at a height of 21.80 meters from its base, it is the third highest in Latin America after the Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and the Cristo de la Concordia in Bolivia.

Theater Isauro Martinez opened in 1930 by the businessman of the same name and is a mixture of Gothic, Byzantine and Moorish architectural styles.

The Parque Fundadores (Founders Park) to the west of the city is an ecological park that has two multipurpose courts, a jogging track, a river, an artificial lake, and an outdoor theater with a capacity of approximately 1,000 spectators. The Ethnic Park to the east of the city was built to commemorate the national ethnic groups and foreigners who settled in the region, and the Venustiano Carranza Forrest, the heart of the city.

The Museo de la Moneda (Mint Museum) protects the currency to one kilogram of pure silver Ley.999, it is the largest that has been coined in Mexico.

The Regional Museum of the Laguna includes objects from the area occupied by the Laguna tribe, and objects from the different cultures of Mesoamerica.

The Museo del Algodón (Cotton Museum) shows the history of cotton production in the Comarca Lagunera.

The Railway Museum, located in the old station at Torreon, tells the history of the railroad arriving in 1893 and how it is closely linked with the development of the city. It exhibits a genuine steam locomotive, photographic material, documents, models and tools, among others.

Las Dunas de Bilbao, extraordinary desert of fine sand located 65 kilometers east of Torreon, where you can go sand boarding.

The Silent Zone is located in the center of the Bolson de Mapimi between the States of Chihuahua, Coahuila and Durango. In this unique place, you can hike, bike rides and horse, and observe the fauna and flora.
