The Templo de Fatima is one of the finest examples of religious architecture in the city of Zacatecas. Its construction was begun under the sponsorship of some believers and Father Manuel de la Hoz. The first stone was laid on October 22, 1950 by Bishop Anthony M. Aguilar. The initial project was under the supervision of architect Damaso Flannelette, who was famous for having built the second tower of the Zacatecas Cathedral.  However, due to lack of resources  the construction of the temple wasn’t completed until the year 2000, and was dedicated on May 13 of that year.

The Fatima Temple is done in a Gothic style, and the orange-pink Zacatecan stone complements and enriches the fine art of the Zacatecan artists.  It has beautiful and colorful stained glass windows that depict religious scenes and passages, and in the main entrance and side walls are many ogival arches. The church has a double crossed nave, a dome, and two chapels that are dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The building is crowned by a slender central tower that is bordered by two other towers and some pinnacles.
