The Fototeca de Veracruz is located in the famous Portal de Miranda, and opened on November 27, 1998 as part of the National System of Photographic Libraries of the National Institute of Anthropology and History. Its mission is to rescue, restore and preserve the historical and artistic photographic collections  in Veracruz. At present, it contains more than 5000 photographic pieces.
Its facilities include two galleries where they exhibit old photographs as well as contemporary works by famous artists. It offers guided tours, courses and workshops related to photography.
