The Teatro Morelos (Morelos Theater) in the City of Toluca was inaugurated by Governor Juan Fernández Albarran on September 5, 1969.

Designed by architects Guillermo Shillet, Jesus Valvia Rodriguez, Angel Azorin Poch, Gustavo Galco Carpio and engineer Carlos Visoso E., and directed by engineer Armodio del Valle Arizpe the theater is located at the Plaza Morelos on the corner of Aquiles Serdan and Sebastian Lerdo de Tejada in the historic center of the city.

Its esplanade is dominated by an equestrian statue of General Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon. In this complex cultural activities are performed such as plays, music, dance, festivals, children’s shows, conferences, meetings and government reports.

Description of the Morelos Theater: Capacity of 2279 seats. Orchestra seating: 1,037, Box seating: 42 and Gallery: 1,200 Services: Box office, lobby, café, parking, public telephones, and bathrooms.
