Tepoztlán, which in Nahuatl means Place of the Copper Ax, is a quiet place just north of the State of Morelos.  It’s a mystical and enigmatic destination that has been the scene of several internationally acclaimed films and which won in the category of Magical Town of Mexico in 2002.
Tepoztlan has been characterized by its cultural and traditional development. One of the main tourist destinations in Morelos, as part of Tepozteco National Park, was created by presidential decree to allocate the area for conservation and protection of flora, fauna and archaeological remains.
Its main tourist attractions are: Temple and Convent of the Nativity, Parish of the Nativity, Carlos Pellicer Museum, Museum and Historical Documentation Center of Tepoztlan, Archaeological Zone of Tepozteco, and Tianguis or Plaza Day; a day to shop at the market.
Other recommended places nearby are places like Amatlán of Quetzalcoatl and San Juan Tlacotenco.
