The states of Tamaulipas and Veracruz are divided at this point by a natural border of deep waters that is called the Rio Panuco. Many of Tampico’s important points are situated on the banks of this channel such as: The Maritime Customs, the wharfs, The Navy Yard, the construction of offshore platforms, The Piers, and finally Playa Miramar.  Boat rides are offered along the river to observe and see these places from a different perspective.
