Cafes, palapas, gardens, a dock, picnic tables, playgrounds, and walkways are all available for the enjoyment of the general public in the Parque Metropolitano on the shores of Laguna del Carpintero, providing a place for wholesome entertainment, conviviality, sports and culture.  The park can be reached from the historic downtown in just a short walk. In front of the park linked by a wooden bridge is the Espacio Cultural Metropolitano. And near the park also is a lookout where you can see the crocodiles that inhabit the lagoon, and the Unidad Deportiva de Tampico which has basic facilities and equipment for sports fans.
