The Iglesia del Carmen of San Luis Potosi is a magnificent monument, and one of the most representative Baroque Churrigueresque churches in Mexico.
The carved work on its facade and front Josephine entryway is notable, which is located on the north side.

Inside you can admire magnificent gilded stone altars.  Most noteworthy is the one that stands in the left transept, called the Mother of God and the Seven Princes, which opens into the nich of the Virgin, a superb altar made of gilded wood. The neo-classic principal altar is the work of artist Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras. And in the sacristy, the paintings of Francisco A. Vallejo are found.

On one side of the church is the Museum of the Viceroyalty (Museo del Virreinato), which exhibits paintings, sculptures and period furniture.
