The Templo de San Pablo Apostol is located within the archaeological site of Mitla, about 46 km (29 mi) from Oaxaca City, in the town of San Pablo Villa de Mitla. Built on a pre-Hispanic platform, during its construction which began in 1590, numerous materials extracted from the other temples at the site were utilized.

It is accessible by a spacious atrium and through a front that looks like a Peralta arch with pyramidal finishes and a niche. The entablature which divides the two bodies is decorated and just above it opens the choral window.

Its facade is very simple and in the interior are two Baroque altarpieces to be admired, one dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe and the other to San Juan.

The main festivals that are celebrated in the community are precisely in honor of this patron saint: On January 25, the festival of St. Paul is celebrated; On October 31-November 2 the All Saints and Day of the Dead festivals are celebrated; On August 15, 16 the St. Peter and St. Paul festivals are celebrated; and during the month of February the festival of the Candelaria is celebrated.
